Johnnie Juanita "Mimi" Henry 79, of Amarillo died Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Amarillo.

Celebration of Life services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mrs. Henry was born on August 3, 1934 in Henryetta, OK to Raymond and Molly Albert. She married the love of her life, J.C. Henry on December 24, 1954.

In 1965, Juanita & J.C. Henry purchased the dealership for Tom's Peanuts & Candies. She did bookkeeping & sales. She later purchased Jones Cellar Restaurant and operated it for 10 years. Juanita was employed as a bookkeeper for Good Samaritan Retirement Center. She later became the Dietary Director and went on to become the Administrator of The Canyons Retirement Center. She retired as Administrator in 2005 after 19 years of service. Many of the people who worked with her over the years have talked about how she talked to them about Jesus & lead them to the Lord.

After retiring from the Canyons Retirement Center, Mimi worked with her granddaughter, Michele Slayton at Mother's Day Out at the Arena of Life Church. She loved rocking & feeding & just loving on those babies. It was one of the most enjoyable times of her life. She loved to read, sew, play card games. Her greatest enjoyment came from being with her children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren.

Juanita had been a member of the First Foursquare Church since 1956. She was a Sunday school teacher & President of the International Foursquare Women's Association.

The greatest achievement in her life was leading people to the Lord. She made sure all children who wanted to go to church & Sunday school had a ride. She ministered and supplied a weekend home for the airmen at the Amarillo Air Force base who wanted to attend church, becoming part of our family.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2012.

Juanita is survived by two daughters, Marian Lowe & husband Jeff of Owasso, OK, Diane Price of Amarillo, and one son, Floyd Henry of Amarillo. Six grandchildren, Angel McGoffin & boyfriend Michael of Berlin, OK, Stacy Krizan & husband Joe of Amarillo, Michele Slayton & husband Bobby of Canyon, TX, Scott Price of Amarillo, Donaven & Shely Henry, of Amarillo., 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter & awaiting 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews & many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and request memorial donations to Olivia's Angels in care of BSA Hospice.
