Bartlett, Elizabeth Berry Baker
Mar. 21, 1910 - Aug. 14, 2013
Elizabeth passed away at age 103 as she had lived, surrounded by loving family.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, daughter of Edward Berry Baker and Mayme Logan Baker, she attended Turner Elementary and Ross High School. The family moved to Tampa, Florida, where Elizabeth played the piano at Bayshore Baptist Church,
and met and married Waldo Bartlett in 1935. During WWII, they lived in Sebring, FL where Waldo worked at Hendricks Field repairing B-17 planes. They returned to Sarasota after the war and attended and were very active at First Baptist Church, where Elizabeth was a member for over 70 years and received a Barnabas Award for Faithfulness at age 99. She had a passion for travel and family genealogy research, having visited many countries including Great Britain, Europe, the Holy Land, Scandinavia, and others. Elizabeth's positive outlook on life, her ready laugh, abiding faith in God, and love of family contributed to a long and blessed life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Waldo Bartlett, and is survived by son Kenneth Bartlett (wife Faith) of North Port, FL, and daughter Linda Simmons (husband Charles) of Colleyville, TX. Survivors also include grandchildren Gregg Elizabeth Bartlett-Barral (husband Domingo), Mark Bartlett, Matthew Bartlett, Loree' Williams (husband Sonny), Cheri Land (husband Chris), and Julie Simmons, great-grandchildren Reagan Williams, Austin Land, and Logan Land, nieces Pat Baker Zeller, Bette Baker-Simmons, Bonnie Baker Isadoost, and nephew Ted Bartlett. She will be missed here, as she completes her journey to be reunited with family and friends who have gone before her.
Visitation will be at 2:00 on Wednesday, August 21, at Toale Brothers Funeral
Home in Sarasota, with services to follow at 3:00. Interment will be at the Palms Memorial Park mausoleum chapel. -
