John M Sackman died at Prairie Community Hospital in Terry, after a long illness. He was born in Ashley ND, a son of Martin and Barbara Sackman. John M Sackman spent much of his life farming and ranching with is father. His parents came to the US from Russia in 1891, homesteading 16 miles east of Ashley ND, then moving on to a farm on the Fallon Flats in 1912.
John M attended country school at Ashley, farmed with his father near Fallon, entered the US Army in 1918 for a short period of service, then returned to the farm after his discharge. He continued working with his father until moving into Fallon in the 1960's.
He is survived by five sisters - Barbara (Andreas) Sackman of Fresno CA; Regina Sackman, Rebecca Sackman and Katherine Sackman, all of Fallon; and Melesena (John) Wenz of Fairfield. Besides his parents, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
