COLUMBIANA- James C. Rambo, 75, was called home Saturday morning after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Jim was born on Jan. 10, 1938, in East Palestine, the son of the late Wilbur and Mildred (Mansell) Rambo, and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1956 graduate of East Palestine High School, Jim proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960.

He worked as a supervisor for Kaiser Aluminum, later called National Refractories, for over 40 year until the plant's closure. He later drove truck for D&V Trucking and Agland Co-Op Trucking of Alliance.

Jim was happiest while working, walking and hunting on his farm, boating and fishing in Canada, being outside, and watching and participating in sports. But most importantly, he loved being with his family.

His love for animals was also evident as he actively supported his children in 4-H horse projects.

Jim leaves to cherish his precious memory, the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Jane (Rosenbaum) Rambo, whom he married on Feb. 28, 1957; his daughter Heather Alvario of Maryland; his son, Travis (Kelly) Rambo of East Palestine; his grandchildren, Sidney and Shelby "George" Rambo, Cody Shamp, and Michael Alvario; his great-granddaughter Hailey; three sisters, Jean Rapp of Columbiana, Peg Howell of Ashland, and Martha MacKall of Columbiana; his brother, Robert Rambo of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother John.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the New Waterford Cemetery Chapel with Chuck Hamilton officiating.
