Maxine LaVonne Morgan, 84, formerly of Red Wing, died Thursday, July 25, at a hospice home in Brooklyn Park, Minn.

She was born on July 14, 1929, in Plum City, Wis., to Howard and Evelyn (Johnson) Pearson.

She graduated high school from Maiden Rock and earned her bachelor's degree in River Falls, Wis.

On June 18, 1955, Maxine married Chauncey "Sonny" Morgan in Maiden Rock. She taught first and second grade in Beloit, Wis., and in Red Wing at Washington and Hancock schools, starting in 1951 and retiring in 1987.

Maxine was a member of First United Methodist Church in Red Wing. She enjoyed spending time with friends, family, and her dog, Ashley; playing cards; and collecting postcards and magnets.

Maxine is survived by her two daughters, Julie Morgan of Plymouth, Minn., and Holly (Steve) Roy of Champlin, Minn.; a sister, Joyce (Donald) Lamberg of Ellsworth, Wis.; and a niece, Karen Woehrle of Ellsworth.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, "Sonny."

Memorial services for Maxine will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Rev. Greg Strunk officiating. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Maiden Rock Cemetery following the service. Memorials preferred to Maxine's family. Pierce Herald Obituary July 2013
