--He was among 11 children of Robert Henry Bailey and wife Sarah Ann Battle. Gordon had a twin brother, Hardeman S. Bailey.
--Spanish-American War Veteran; he served as Private in Company D, 1st GA Infantry, from May 1898 to November 1918, when he was honorably discharged.
--Occupation: Farmer thru 1920. He was Mgr. of a boarding house in Macon in 1930. By 1935, he was living on a farm in Crawford County, GA & was still there in 1940. He later moved back to Macon.
--Gordon married Mary Sams; they had 7 children: Gordon Montgomery, Jr. (who died young), Sara Ann, Hardeman S., Harriet, Georgia Mary, Robert Henry, and Jennie Bailey.
