Mrs. Miriam Lovenia Adkins Faulkner Shoemaker, 92, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home, 320 West 7th St., Columbia, TN 38401 with Rev. Janis Lofton officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Her body will be conveyed to A. J. Desmond & Son Funeral Home in Royal Oak, Michigan for burial in Acacia Park Cemetery, 31300 Southfield Road, Beverly Hills, Michigan 48025.
Miriam was born at her parents' home in South Giles County, Tennessee near Veto, Alabama on August 1, 1921. Miriam's parents were Lawrence Eugene Adkins and Pattie Amelia Whitfield Adkins buried in Athens Roselawn Cemetery, Athens, AL. Miriam's brother was Alfred Eugene Adkins of Columbia, TN passing in death April 26, 2011 and buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Pulaski, TN.

Miriam was first married to Lawrence Alvin Faulkner from August 8, 1940 ending with his death on August 1, 1954. Lawrence Alvin Faulkner is interred in Athens City Cemetery, Athens, AL. Miriam was a former resident of Beverly Hills, Michigan where she married John William Shoemaker on March 8, 1966 until his death on March 14, 1981. He is buried in Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, Michigan. Miriam was formerly a buyer for the J. L. Hudson Company the years she lived in Michigan. After retiring Miriam was a housewife to her second husband John until his death.
Miriam is survived by her nephew, Stephen Kirby Adkins of Columbia, TN; a paternal first cousin Lois Nell Adkins Goodman of Huntsville, AL; and a half first cousin Betty Layne Coffman Catalfamo of Elkmont, AL.
