Joseph was one year older than I, and one and two years younger than my two older siblings. I thought it was nice to have an uncle who was my age but I'm afraid my grandmother, at the age of forty two, thought just a little differently, but she changed her mind when all the girls grew up and moved away. He was the apple of her eye and a great comfort to her. He was the youngest and only son of four children and had three sisters who really loved him. Christine was 17 years older and still at home and I think maybe she might have spoiled him just a little.
Joseph grew up to be an accomplished carpenter and he and his crew were sought after to build houses for those who knew of his reputation in the business.
He was married and had one daughter, Penny Luray Wright, who passed away after many months of declining health in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, Orange County, North Carolina on January 22, 2012.
