CHAPEL HILL — Cameron Harper Register, 26, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006. He was born in Lenoir County on Nov. 30, 1979, to Clyde Harper Register Jr. and Dana Smith Sceeny. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harper and Susan Register Sr. Cameron was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a double major in Biology and Industrial Relations.
He was an Eagle Scout, a three-time state wrestling champion, a North Carolina Scholar, a Morehead Scholar nominee, and was devoted to the Humane Society.
Survivors include his parents, Clyde Harper Register Jr. and wife Pamela L. Register of Clayton and Dana Smith Sceeny and husband Martin of Aurora, Ohio; brothers, Daniel "Art" Register of Raleigh; stepbrother, Landon James of Clayton; fiancé, Lindsay Sanderson of Chapel Hill; maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Carlton Smith of Wilson and Mrs. Pat Ingram of Emerald Isle; aunt, Betsy Register of Greenville; uncle, Wes Smith and wife Connie of Raleigh; cousin, Emily Smith of Raleigh.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, Kinston, N.C. with the Rev. Jonathan Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at the home of Cameron's great-uncle and aunt, Ike and Carol Southerland, 1001 Greenbriar Road, Kinston, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Cameron's memory be made to the Lenoir County SPCA, 2455 Rouse Road Extension, Kinston, N.C. 28504.
