Johanna Lee (Mallaney) Smith of Palm Bay Florida, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. Josie was born June 5, 1941 and died August 17, 2013. She was the daughter of Raymond G. Mallaney and Myrtle May (Hamblin) Mallaney. Josie was predeceased by her sister Patricia Elaine (Mallaney) Perry. Josie is survived by her husband of 51 years, two sons and a daughter. She leaves five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Josie's most rewarding accomplishment aside from being a wonderful and much loved wife and mother, is the legacy she leaves in the form of the genealogical histories of the Mallaney/Hamblin and Smith/Chadwick families. She documented over 9000 family members and ancestors during her 40 years of genealogical work and was a member of several Genealogical societies in New England and New York. Her work will be added to the files of the Mormon Church of the Latter Day Saints where everyone will have free access to her work. Josie also contributed to findagrave.com where she managed over 900 family memorials. Josie also enjoyed travelling with the Wally Byam Caravan Club International.
