Verna C. Hatcher, 66, of Bakers Chapel Road, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Hatcher was born in Conway, S.C., a daughter of the late Burney Collins and Elwood Verna Cooper.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Aynor where she served as pianist, Assistant Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, and former W.M.U. Director. A special thanks to Mercy Hospice for their loving care.

Surviving are her husband of 29 years, Ronnie Hatcher of Aynor; two sons, James Johnson and wife, Theresa, of LaFayette, Ga., Cody Hatcher of Aynor; one daughter, Gayle Dougan and husband, T.J., of Aynor; three grandchildren, Rob McDonald, April Boyea and Riccana Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Mason Boyea; one brother, Doug Collins and wife, Meredith, of Nichols; four sisters, Erma MacDonald of Garden City, Jan Sanders of Aynor, Myra Cook of Conway, and Vardell Sellers of Aynor.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Tyler Caines, the Rev. Jon Johnson, and the Rev. Kirby Winstead officiating.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm. Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the funeral home.
