Melvin Vernon Page, 97, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013. Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery in Midlothian. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Vernon was born on April 18, 1916, to Nancy Lee Rucker Page and Joseph Garner Page. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, most recently Legacy Church, previously known as Pipeline Road Church of Christ. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita Joy Pollock Page; son, Grady Page; sisters, Dessie Page, Gertrude Gough, Reba Chism, Willie Tomlinson, Inez Belken and Almeta Wilkinson; brothers, John Page and J.W. Page. Survivors: He is survived by his daughter, Gail Steagall; son-in-law, Red Steagall; son, Steve Page; grandsons, Carl Steagall, Steven Steagall and wife, Deborah; great-grandson, Darrin.
