Bernard Anthony Hudson, 95, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his children.

Bernard was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 15, 1925 to the late Burtis and Monica (Mattingly) Hudson. He graduated from Memorial High School and attended the University of Evansville. Bernard retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 41 years of service, having worked in both Evansville, IN, and St. Joseph, MI. Bernard was a hard worker and loved his family dearly. In his early years, he worked a full time job, attended night school at U of E, all while personally building the family home in Evansville. He also participated in activities such as singing in the church choir with his beautiful alto voice, while still finding time to be a dependable, supportive and amazing father. He was eventually transferred to Whirlpool Corporate Headquarters in Michigan. When moving to Michigan, the family bought a home on Lake Michigan where many fond memories were made. Bernard was a faithful member of the Catholic faith and served in many capacities. After retiring, Bernard enjoyed traveling, RV camping, bicycling and playing tennis. He was the loving caregiver for his first and second wife as their health declined, providing total care for them in their home. Lastly, Bernard was an incredible grandfather. He took every opportunity to talk to his grandchildren individually, checking in on them, and giving them wise advice. Bernard will truly be missed.

Bernard is survived by his daughters, Mary Brill (Arthur) of Kalamazoo, MI, Beverly Fowler of Evansville, IN, Barbara Wiedmayer (Mark) of Kalamazoo, MI, and Colleen Reisterer (Mike) of Kalamazoo, MI; sons, Brian Hudson (Annie) of Evansville, IN, and Steven Hudson (Debbie) of Evansville, IN; sister, Joyce Soule of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Donald Hudson (Pat) of Velpen, IN; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Diane Hudson of Brooklyn, MI; sister-in-law, Eloise; and by his brother-in-law, Friedman.

Bernard was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred (Neuendorf) Hudson in 1993; 2nd wife, Doris Hudson in 2008; 3rd wife, Halla Hudson in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bruce Hudson; sisters, Marie and Norma; and by his brothers, Clinton and Alvin.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Father Jason Gries officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
