Lars F. Brynild, 78, died Thursday, August 15, 2013, in The Meadows, Leicester, after an illness.

Lars was born in Boston and raised in Wellesley, son of Lars and Catherine (Grant) Brynild. A graduate of Wellesley High School, he attended Northeastern University, Boston, and was a US Navy Veteran. Prior to settling in Clinton in 1994, he had been a long-time resident of Northborough.

For 40 years, Lars worked as a welder and mechanic at Caterpillar Tractor, Milford, retiring in 2000.

A member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish, and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lars served the Town of Wayland as a Call Fireman (Ladder 1, Engine 5) from 1958-1963.

He enjoyed boating, fishing, reading, and trips to Cape Cod, and Lake Winnipesaukee. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.

Burial in New Town Cemetery, Sudbury.
