Irene Louise Nehmer, age 90, of DeForest, died peacefully surrounded by family at Walnut Grove Nursing Home.

She was born Jun 12, 1921, in Columbus, the daughter of Emil and Cora (Huntington) Miller. Irene met her husband, Harold while both worked for Oscar Mayer, and they were married June 7, 1952. She worked for 21 years as a clerk with the Post Office.

Irene always stayed busy with charity work and volunteer organizations, including Homesetters Homemakers, the Senior Center, Food Pantry and Share Food Program and received numerous awards and certificates for her service. She loved to garden, watch her birds, keep physically active and travel. She loved her church and was very involved with Christ Lutheran Church, including their Martha Circle, as long as she was able.

Irene is survived by four children, Warren Loveland, Rocky (Chris) Loveland, Faith Nehmer and Audrey Nehmer; eight grandchildren, Greg (Karie) Georgeson, Bruce Georgeson, twins, Sara (Mike) Orr and Stephanie (Matt) Carter, Amanda Loveland (fiancé, Jacob), Leah (John) Hunter, Jennifer (Steve) Scott and Lindsay (Paul) Thauger; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold on Dec. 7, 1971; two brothers and a sister, Arthur, Walter and Clara; two sons, Dale and Clifton Nehmer; and a grandson, Albin Moscinski.
