Gerald Eugene Richardson, age 69, of Brooklyn passed away peacefully following a short illness on October 16, 2012 at his home. He was born on August 13, 1943 at St. Mary's Hospital to his parents Eugene and Ruth (Fleming) Richardson. Jerry graduated from Edgewood High School with the class of 1961. On May 1, 1965 he was united in marriage to Garnett Ellen Herrington at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Madison. Jerry owned and operated Richardson Oil Company in the Fitchburg and Brooklyn area until retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He also served as President of the Jug Prairie Cemetery Association, member of the Town of Brooklyn Recycling Committee, former member of the Fitchburg Fire Department, member of the St. James Catholic Church Council, member of the Brooklyn Sno-Hornets, and Constable of Fitchburg and Town of Brooklyn. Jerry especially enjoyed moments shared in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. He played softball for his company team for over thirty five years. Jerry also was an avid card player, participating in several card clubs. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Jerry was passionate about spending time on his "eighty acre playground" with family and friends. Jerry is survived by his wife Garnett, son Luke (Renee) Richardson, daughters Lisa (Doug Jerdee) Shrader, Laura (Steve) Hall, Leanne (Robbie) Neild, Lynda (Eric) Shrader, and Lanee (Luke) MacLean, grandchildren Travis (Rachel), Troy, Austin, and Derek Shrader, Natalie, Nicole, and Nathan Hall, Emma and Bryce Neild, Drew, Jenna, and Ava Shrader, Libby, Eve, and Blake MacLean, and Reese and Ryan Richardson, and a great-grandchild Tayla Shrader. He is further survived by a brother Michael (Deb) Richardson, sisters Agnes Stegner, Rita (Carlton) Little, Mary Steel, Elizabeth (Patrick) Jagoe, and Teresa (Frederick) Miller, father-in-law Sheldon Herrington, brother-in-law Gordon (Linda) Herrington, and sister-in-law Gail Herrington. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Irma Herrington, and brothers-in-law Dave Stegner and Hugh Steel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Michael Moon and Rev. Kenneth Klink officiating. A gathering for family and friends to share remembrances will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville. The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is serving the family.
