Paul Wesley Meeks, age 59, died on Monday, June 18, 2012 in Chicago, IL. He leaves behind his beloved wife Gail and treasured children Garrett and Mackenzie. Paul was one of the most respected and likable men one will ever meet. He lived a life of goodness and that goodness will last forever. Paul was diagnosed three months ago with both Guillain-Barre and Paraneoplastic syndromes. Despite the efforts of top physicians, Paul lost his struggle to these rare conditions but was surrounded by his adoring family when he passed away. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Harriet (Hofer) Meeks. He is survived by brothers Terry and Kenny Meeks and their families. Paul was born in Henderson, KY but met future wife Gail while in high school in Michigan. They lived in Connecticut and California but moved to Hinsdale, IL when Garrett and Mackenzie were in grade school. The Meeks had recently moved to the South Loop and Paul was employed as a senior consultant for DeMarche Associates, Inc. The Meeks would have been married 38 years in August. Paul and Gail shared a love of tennis, golf and long drives on Lake Shore Drive. They loved their weekly movie night along with family trips and sampling Chicago restaurants with their kids. Paul's wake will be from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 21 at the Sojka Funeral Home at 1427 W. Chicago Ave. in Chicago. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at Old St. Mary's Church at 1532 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago.
