Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Henri Giraud and Elizabeth Ross Giraud and wife of the late Lawrence Richard Hood. She was raised in Troy and resided in Center Brunswick and East Greenbush for many years, more recently at Beechwood, Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School and Mildred Elley in Albany.
Mrs. Hood was a secretary all her working days serving at the Educational Opportunity Center, the State Education Department and the Court Administration in Albany, retiring 17 years ago.
She was a long time member of the Eastern star and served as Matron in 167 North Troy and also was Chaplain in East Greenbush. She enjoyed traveling with the elder hostel and loved western square dancing. Mrs. Hood loved opera, and had belonged to the Siena Opera Club and spent a lot time traveling with the group.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne (Greg) McKee, Sunapee, NH; a son, John L. Hood and a grandson, Conor McKee.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Saturday from 11AM-1PM with a funeral service to follow at 1PM.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
