Peggy Jo Lovern Carroll, 73, of Salem, Va., lovingly arrived in the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with Cancer. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David, who lovingly took care of her to the very end. Also left to cherish her memory are her children, Robin (Rob) Fralin, Mark (Lisa) Carroll, Debbie (Peter) Stocki, and "special daughter," Wendy Carroll; her grandchildren, Preston and Derek Fralin, David (Julia) Carroll, John (Holly) Carroll, and Christopher Stocki; and great-grandchildren, Damien Carroll, Nevaeh, Mac, and Finn Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oakley and Annabelle Lovern; and sister, Barbara Shorter.
Surviving sisters are Pat Moneymaker, Alice Mottesheard, and Ginny Schillen; and surviving brothers are David Lovern and Wayne Lovern.
We will greatly miss our "Old Woman," "Mama," "Nanny," but take comfort that she is no longer suffering and will be forever in peace watching over us from her Heavenly home.
Second Timothy 4:7,
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Peggy was known to many as the "Ice Cream" lady as she worked at the Salem Ice Cream Parlor for 17 years and loved her job and talking to all the friends she made.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for all their help and support.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013, at Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Shawn Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
