Samuel C. Bartlett, 82, of Bear River, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, in University Medical Center, Hibbing. He was born on Feb. 19, 1920, in Bear River, to Curtis and Valaria (Fortier) Bartlett and had been a life long resident. Samuel retired as a supervisor from Rhude and Frygerger Mining Company. He was a member of the Bear River Lutheran Church, a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, and a member of Veterans' of Foreign Wars Post 1757 of Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen, on Nov. 30, 1999; son, Ervin Bartlett, on Feb. 24, 2002; great-granddaughter Sadi in 2002; and son-in-law Robert Larson on May 29, 1998. He is survived by his son Stanley (Gail) Bartlett; five daughters, Carol Larson, Jane (Neil Wimmel) Bartlett, Gail (Brian) Bergman, Shirley (Bruce) Sandberg, and Betty (Jeff) Schanche; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mina Urdahl; and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Bartlett. SERVICE: 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in the Bear River Lutheran Church with Rev. Peter Satren officiating. Memorials are preferred to the Bear River Lutheran Church or to the Bear River Community Center. Arrangements are by the Landmark Funeral Home, Virginia.
