He was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Greene County.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Dacus; daughters, Susanne Derby, Judy Nelson and Madeleine Boyer; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
At age 20, he attended aircraft mechanics school, then enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in Europe. After the war, he worked for Lockheed Aircraft, then opened his own insurance business in La Verne, Calif. He was active in La Verne Lions Club, a volunteer firefighter and member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from insurance, moved to Oregon and became a real estate broker. After several years in Oregon, he and Mary returned to Arkansas and were members of Central Baptist Church. In 2000, they moved to Hemet. Calif., and retired. He enjoyed being near his children and grand-children. He loved to play piano and write stories about his experiences in life, but especially stories about WWII.
Funeral services were held in Pomona, Calif.
