Isom Deloss Weekly, 49, Myrtle Point, was killed when the car he was driving and a dump truck collided 2-1/2 miles east of here on Highway 42 at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Coos County sheriff's office reported.
Two passengers in Weekly's westbound vehicle were injured and one was hospitalized, deputies told The World. Ray Vester, 51, was admitted to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, they said. Henry S. Pownell, 28, also taken to Bay Area Hospital, was treated and released, according to officers. Both were identified by police as Myrtle Point residents.
The driver of the east-bound dump truck, Albert Canada, 51, also of Myrtle Point, escaped injury in the collision, deputies said.
No citations were issued as a result of the incident which took place on a highway bridge, they noted.
