He was born July 28, 1944, in Stark County Ohio to the late Wallace V. and Ida Ellen (Zook) Yoder. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Yoder.
On May 6, 1965, he married the former Leora Jean Miller in Stark County Ohio, and she survives along with three sons, Owen (Doretta) Yoder of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Edwin (Gloria) Yoder of Weatherby, Missouri, and Eldon (Emily) Yoder of Rushsylvania; two daughters, Ruby Ann (Jacob) Eicher of Belvedere, Tennessee and Nancy Lee (Marvin) Helmuth of Rushsylvania; four brothers, Ervin (Louise) Yoder of Cottage Grove, Tennessee, Elmer (Delilah) Yoder of Hartville, Ohio, John Henry (Arlene) Yoder of Hartville, Ohio and Vernon (Mary Margaret) Yoder of Roodhouse, Illinois; two sisters, Mary Ellen Wagler of Cottage Grove, Tennessee and Martha (Alfred) Gringerich of Manton, Michigan, and twenty grandchildren.
Alvin was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church and served as a minister for forty two years.
Calling hours are Thursday, August 15, 2013, from 6 to 9 P.M. and Friday, August 16, 2013, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. at the Marvin Helmuth residence 9063 US 68 N in Rushsylvania, Ohio, where Bishop David Yoder will officiate the 9:00 A.M. funeral service Saturday, August 17, 2013. Interment will be in the Belle Center Amish Cemetery.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center, Ohio assisted the family with the arrangements.
