Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Rose Catholic Church, Montrose, with burial in St. Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, with a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Gertrude was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Teutopolis, the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Probst) Beckman Sr. She married Albert H. Overbeck on Feb. 15, 1941. Gertrude was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Montrose, and the St. Rose Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by three sons, Larry (Inez) of Dieterich, Robert (Norma) of Montrose and Roger (Carol) of Robins, Iowa; one daughter, Karen (Larry) Koester of Teutopolis; three brothers, Clarence (Mary Louise) Beckman, Donald (Pauline) Beckman and Joseph (Wilma) Beckman Jr., all of Teutopolis; three sisters, Marie Grunloh of Lexington, Eleanor Kinkelaar of Effingham and Louise (Jerome) Pruemer of Shelbyville; brother-in-law, Herman Bierman of Wheeler; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, Randall; three great-grandchildren, Corey, Garrett and Stephanie; infant brother, Gerald; two sisters, Delores Bierman and Adele Niebrugge; and sister-in-law, Katherine Beckman.
