He and four other directors were the original directors of Navarro Savings and Loan of which he served as president for many years. He was for 30 years a director of the Methodist Wesleyan Homes in Georgetown.
He cherished his membership in First United Methodist Church in Corsicana, serving many years as Sunday school teacher, usher, and on the board of the church. He loved his church dearly and the love and fellowship that he found there.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 33 months in the Pacific zone. Upon getting out of the Navy he joined the naval reserves and retired in 1966 as a commander of a naval unit in Tyler. He loved his friends and family dearly and will be desperately missed.
