He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rowlett, Texas and was the youngest son of Josh & Linda Slusher born to them on February 4, 1928 in Knox Co.
He is preceded in death by a son, seven brothers, Clifford, Golden, Roy, Josh, Finley Sawyer and Silas Slusher and two sisters, Jane Robinson and Lena Jones.
He is survived by his niece Hazel Saise and husband Mike of Texas who he made his home with for the past forty five to fifty years. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
Coy has gone through three major surgeries in the last twenty years, his family was always by his side in the hospital until he fully recovered. He did with their love and support. Coy leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his family. He was a quiet and honest man who loved to tell us about our family history. He enjoyed his weekly visit to the nursing home to visit the sick, going to get together with his family and enjoyed a good home cooked meal. Coy loved to visit Stinking Creek which he did periodically. On his last trip there he said he wanted to visit his niece Marie to spend some quality time with her.
His Texas family called him daily at the Barbourville and Pineville Hospitals and at the Pineville Nursing Home. In Lexington when his heart finally gave out, one of his nieces in Texas was holding his hand. Coy wanted to be laid to rest with his family members in Kentucky at his aunt Polly's cemetery in Stinking Creek. No more pain and suffering. He is at peace now and safely in the arms of our Lord.
A funeral Mass for Mr. Slusher will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 19th at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jesu officiating.
