Edward Frederick Rich was the son of Stephen Sumner Rich and Catharine Ford. Edward earned a living as a tool and die maker. Edward was first married to Hattie True Norris and had 2 children with her, Harry True Rich (1877-1925) and Alice Norris Rich (1883-?). Hattie died in 1883. Edward and Harry lived in an apartment briefly before Harry went to live with his mothers parents, who also had his sister. In 1884 Edward married Estells Pope (Morine). They had 9 children together. Edward and Estella lived in Lynn. Edward died at the home of his son Herbert in Revere. Edward's father Stephen Sumner went off to the civil war, never to return. This resulted in Edward's brother Otis being taken in by the Osgoods in Reading and Edward working in a shoe factory in Lynn. Catharine also went to Lynn and died of consumption a few years later.
