OBITUARY-
Francis Albert Freed, age 93, of Brownsdale, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home, Blooming Prairie, Minn.

He was born Jan. 4, 1909, at a farm in Bondurant, Iowa, to Albert and Elizabeth Westman Freed. His parents moved to a farm southeast of Brownsdale in 1910. Two years later, they moved to a farm southwest of Sargeant, Minn., where he farmed until his retirement in 1974. He received his elementary education at District #89 Country School and graduated from Hayfield High School.
On June 21, 1941, in Austin, Minn., he was united in marriage with Florence Larson from Rose Creek, Minn. He and his wife moved to Brownsdale in 1980. They were blessed with one daughter, Mary Freed.
Francis became a member of Sargeant Zion United Bretheran Church in 1921. He had been a faithful servant doing God's work through the years. He loved to sing in the choir and the men's quartet. He was a soft spoken, kind and loving husband, father uncle and friend to all. He loved to go to northern Minnesota to go fishing and playing cards with family and friends. Blessed be his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Freed; and sister, Alice Freed Klingsheim.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Sargeant United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Hodak and the Rev. Donald D. Budd officiating. Interment will be in the Hoflanda Cemetery in Marshall Township. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday at Sargeant United Methodist Church for one hour before the service. Organist will be Barbara Nason. Casket bearers will be David Hammermeister, Harlin Kriehn, Gene Studer, Tom Anderson, Jim Risius, David Baumgartner.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Freed of Brownsdale, Minn.; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Daniel Rhodes; sister-in-law, Vivian Larson of Loveland, Colo.; nephew, Dr. Michael Freed of Hastings, Minn.; great niece, Kirsten Freed of Corvallis, Ore.; great nephew, Sanders Freed of Olympia, Wash.; and many cousins.
