Gary James Finley
Aug. 29, 1965 - July 25, 2013

Gary James Finley was born in Riverside, Calif., August 29, 1965. He moved with his family to Placerville in 1971. His education began at Schnell Elementary and years later in 1984 he graduated from El Dorado High School. Gary was an avid snow skier and member of the high school Ski Team. Always the competitor, he won many races but best of all he was able to excel in the sport he loved. Continuing his education, Gary attended college graduating in 1989 with a BA in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino and in 1991 earning his BS degree in Computer Science from Coleman College. He chose a career in the computer industry as a Programmer Analyst, enhancing data exchange with suppliers and customers. Over the span of his career he was employed with several different companies. The many years he spent at DC Shoes and Semi-conductor Distributor Memic remain highlights of his life's work. As an adult Gary made his home in Carlsbad, Calif. He died at home July 25, 2013 at the age of 47 years of sudden cardiac arrest.

Gary is greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his mother Mary K. Baglin Brancheau and her husband John of Placerville, Calif., his father James A. Finley of Boise, ID. His sister Teri Finley Williams, her husband Dean and their children Sarah and Brian also of Boise, ID. His aunt Elizabeth Baglin Stefanich and family of Fresno, Calif., and his uncle Bruce Finley and family of Santa Clarita, Calif. Gary is also survived by his closest friends, Philip Cox, Davis, Calif.; Paul Milam, Corona, Calif.; and Jane Waite, Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

Most recently Gary enjoyed a passion for combining his love of backcountry biking and hiking with an interest in Geocaching, an outdoor recreational activity in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world. Gary had the luxury of living a full life exactly as he chose to live it. A celebration of his life will be announced at a future date.
