Mr. Burton was born in Anderson County, S.C., the son of Barbara Joann Burton Bates. He was a popular student at Heard County Comprehensive High School, where he was to graduate this year. He was a member of the Art Club and a Master of combat karate at Keith's Karate in LaGrange. Mr. Burton was a loving son, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed.
A funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin. The Rev. Jim Chesnut will officiate, and burial will be in the Heard County Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Joann and Ronald Bates; and brother Cody Bates, all of Franklin; aunts and uncles Brenda and Steve Heard of Franklin, Gerald and Sue Burton of LaFrance, S.C., and Larry Burton of Easley, S.C., and a host of friends.
