Betty Lou Austin, 85, El Dorado, died Wednesday, August 14 at Wesley Medical Center. A Celebration of her life will be 2:00 Monday, August 19 at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. The family will received friends and relatives Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.

She was born on May 4, 1928 in El Dorado the daughter of Howard H. and Pearl L. (Sammons) Bailey. She graduated from Towanda High School in 1946. On September 1, 1946, Betty and Jim Austin were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Towanda. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1998. She was a member of First Christian Church in El Dorado; a member of TOPS; enjoyed working with dolls at the doll hospital in Towanda; enjoyed reading, loved all her grandchildren and going to McDonald's on Mondays for her Ice Mocha.

Those she leaves are her children and their spouses Jim Austin, El Dorado; John and Lane Austin, Tonopah, Nevada; Diana and Gary Spires, El Dorado; Jerry Austin, Towanda; Donna and Dwayne Sharp, Rosalia; Deborah and William Kurnes, Chico, Texas; Darcia and Orin Beavers, El Dorado; Brothers and Sisters; Bud Bailey, El Dorado; Barbara and Jim Brush, Towanda; Don and Olive Bailey, Silver City, New Mexico; Toni and Glen Holbrook, Derby; 43 grandchildren; and over 50 great grand and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister Jeanienne; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials to her memory for the American Heart Association or Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Breast Cancer Research) may be left at Carlson Funeral Home.
