Ioma Arrena Barber, was born March 27, 1916 in Welton, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Dorothea (Wulf) Barber. Ioma was married to Virgil Steward.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ. Before her retirement, she had worked at the Observer as Society Editor for 36 years.
Survivors include two daughters, a son, 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jessica Hanrahan, DeWitt, Iowa, (with whom she resided since 1966); a brother, Lloyd Barber, DeWitt, Iowa.
Ioma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, Marty Steward, a sister, Mildred Paulsen, and three brothers, Clarence, Elmer, and Bob Barber.
Friends may call at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 2 until 8 PM Sunday, November 3, 2002. Funeral service 10:00 Monday, November 4, 2002 at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. The Rev. Ginger Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
