UTICA - Nell Travis Collins died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at her home in Utica. She was 90.
Mrs. Collins was born in Heidelberg and had lived in Hinds County since 1936. She was a graduate of Mississippi Woman's College in Hattiesburg and was an alumnae of William Carey College. She was a retired teacher, librarian and farmer. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star for 72 years, the Utica Better Living Club for 50 years, Daughters of the American Revolution First Families of Mississippi and Utica Baptist Church and was a past state officer in Mississippi Homemakers Clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Collins Jr.; and her grandson, Dr. Edward Noel Collins.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Mary Collins Landin of Utica; three sons, Lt. Col. Thomas E. Collins III of Lauderdale, Colo., Dr. Madison Travis Collins of Lilburn, Ga., and Everette H. Collins of Houma, La.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Utica Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lebanon Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Thomas C. Landin, Martin T. Collins, Jason T. Collins, Calvin F. Collins, Donald W. Martin, E.H. Martin and W. Shelby Hubbard.
