James D. Anderson was born March 28, 1940 in Sisseton, SD to Arne and Marie (Tystad) Anderson. He attended Red Iron School #2 and completed the 8th grade. He then started working for his Dad Arne in the bait business. James started farming and he raised and milked dairy cows, and also raised and harvested crops. Aside from farming and working in the bait business he also enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1958 and served as a Cannon Crewman until 1964 and then re-enlisted in 1976 as a gunner and then transferred to the Britton unit as a Gunnery Sergeant. James retired from the National Guard in 1994 as a First Sergeant. He was awarded numerous medals and citations. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, hunting, coffee with his friends and the love for music. James played the steel guitar and the guitar with a band called the Country Scandanavians and had played and sang for many years with many of his good friends. Survivors include, his wife Lois A. Anderson of Milbank, SD, Gregory J. Anderson of Watertown, SD, Andrew L. (Jenilee Wickre) Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD, Lisa J. (Jim) Forrette of Milbank, SD, Lori A. (Wes Herniman) Anderson of Sisseton, SD, Joey S. (Deb) Anderson of Peever, SD, Leah R. (Brian Ekeren) Anderson of Colton, SD, Jerry D. (Jenelle) Anderson of Milbank, SD, and Jason R. (Annette) Anderson of Estelline, SD, 1 sister Mabel Almos of Eden, SD, 2 brothers, Christ Anderson of Eden, SD, and Mervin Anderson of Eden, SD and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandsons, Nathan, Benjamin, and Allen, and one brother Albert.
