ADAM ECKAS

Adam Eckas, 77, Greeley, died Wednesday, Mar. 3, at Weld Country General Hospital.

He was born Nov. 9, 1904 to Adam and Elizabeth (Crum) Eckas at Kutter, Russia.

On Jan. 20, 1930, he married Lena Eckhardt at Windsor.

Eckas came to the United States and Wichita, Kan., with his family in 1906. He moved to Windsor in 1921. He farmed in the Galeton and Gill areas most of his life. He moved into Greeley in 1969, and was employed by the Hammon's Implement Co. until retiring in 1981.

He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church at Eaton.

Survivors are his wife, Lena of Greeley; a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Joyce) VanBeber of Loveland; three sons, Emanuel of Kersey, Robert of Greeley; six sisters, Esther Dinges, Clara Heinze and June Schwaubauer, all of Eaton, Viola Friesan of Bakersfield, Calif., Beth Richter of Greeley, and Sally Richter of Ault; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A sister, Mollie, and a brother Henry are both deceased.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, Eaton, with the Rev. Loren Kniep officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Contributions may be made to the Adam Eckas Memorial Fund, in care of Adamson Mortuary, which is in charge of arrangements.
