He served in World War I in the U.S. Army. He was a used car dealer.
In 1971, he and his wife, Ruby, moved to Mabton. She died Aug. 20, 1979.
He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Sunnyside. On April 6, 1980, he and Katherine Hindman were married in the Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine; a son, Jack Childress of Moses Lake; his twin sister, Hazel Gerrity of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
