Obituary:
-------------
DIED,
In Newbern, N. C., on Wednesday the 28th ult., Mrs. MARY C. COLE, wife of James C. Cole, Esq., of that place. The death of this estimable lady has thrown a gloom over a wide circle. If purity of motive, unselfish benevolence, chaste and truthful conversation, a meek and quiet spirit, charity towards others, untiring devotion to husband, children and friends, and kind consideration of the wants of the poor and of her servants, are characteristics of a true or a good woman, then the writer of this small tribute, who has known her well, can truly say, he has never known a truer or a better, than was Mrs. Cole. The loss of such a friend can but fill the hearts of the bereaved with deep sorrow, but they hope to meet her again in a purer, brighter, better world. P.
