Mona graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Michigan University and was employed as a teacher by Holy Name Central Grade School for 10 years. She had been a resident of Elgin since 1987. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by: parents; her husband, George Hughes in 1970; 2 brothers, William "Billy" and Fred Desmond.
