Charlotte Joane "Jo" Conner, of Arnold, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at home, surrounded by family and friends. Born Sept. 1, 1929, she was the only child of the late Rodger K. and Edith Marie Weaver Berkey, of Johnstown. She was a graduate of the Indiana State Teachers College and taught second grade in the New Kensington-Arnold School District for many years until her retirement in 1995. She was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington where she sang in the choir for more than 50 years. She was active in the Pucketos Garden Club, New Kensington-Arnold Education Association Retired Teachers (AKEA) and Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Upsilon Chapter. She was an avid sports fan and loved to play Scrabble, Aggravation and Yahtzee. Her sense of wonder and curiosity sparked a lifetime of adventures and world travels which she shared with her children, grandchildren and friends. She is survived by four daughters, Christiann (Ross) Bash, Cherilynn Mosley, Claudia-Jo (W. Todd) Hepler and Carollee (Douglas) Ifft; 11 grandchildren, Sarah Bash Hough, Elizabeth Bash Messer, Nathan Bash, Abbe Hepler Coury, Gretel Hepler Kedley, Hollie Hepler, Jennifer Mosley Colon, Amy Mosley Mendoza, Jamie Mosley, Cheron Mosley and Ryan Ifft; 13 great-grandchildren; four nephews; and a cherished cousin, Robert Schneider, of Virginia Beach, Va. She also leaves behind many dear friends. Special thanks to Dr. Susan Schwartz for her care and compassion during our mother's illness and through the final hours of her life. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the ROSS WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, 724-335-1234. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church, 601 Fifth Ave., New Kensington. Interment will be private. For those who wish, the family respectfully suggests donations be made to the United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington, the AKEA Scholarship Fund, the Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Upsilon Chapter or to the American Cancer Society.
