Allen V. Wood, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, in Fort Worth. Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. He was born June 17, 1927, in Hamilton, the son of Lawrence Oliver "Lonnie" Wood and Sallie Ann Allen Wood. Mr. Wood retired from the city of Fort Worth. He was a World War II Army veteran, a longtime Fort Worth resident and longtime member of Handley Baptist Church. Allen was a friendly, outgoing person who treated everyone he met with the respect of a friend. Allen was simply a marvelous conversationalist, who enjoyed people more than anything.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Walteen Wood Sellers and Mary Sipes; brother, Leo Wood,
and his son Alvin Ray Wood.

Survivors: His wife of 59 years, Adelle Wood; grandson, Devon Wood; sister, Maggie Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
