Gerhardt (Slim) Herbert Glienke, age 87, 1204 76 Ave. NW, Austin, died Thursday, April 20, at Burr Oak Manor, Austin.
He was born November 25, 1912, to Carl and Laura Rufledt Glienke in Dexter Township, where he was raised and graduated Elkton High School.
Gerhardt and Evelyn Coulter were married January 28, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Dexter Township. He helped operate the family farms until 1963, when his family moved to Austin. He worked for Lysne Construction of Blooming Prairie until retirement in the early 1970s.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, animals, woodworking, and fishing. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin.
He had been a resident of Burr Oak Manor since November 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two sons and daughters-in-1aw, Carl and Rose, Blooming Prairie, and Gerhardt, Jr. (Gary) and Diane, Faribault; three daughters; sons-in-law, Bernice (Bernie) and Bob Stompoly, Lexington, Mo., Martha (Marty) Lawson, Hector, Minn., and Betty Lou and Larry Wells, Owatonna; one sister, Hertha Holtan, Hayfield; 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
Service: 11 a.m. memorial service Monday, April 24, 2000, at Worlein Funeral Home with the Rev. Kristin Wee officiating.
Visitation: One hour before memorial services Monday at the funeral home with no reviewal.
Interment: St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Elkton.
