WINSTON-SALEM Peggy Grubb Goforth Mar. 18, 1935 - Feb. 11, 2012 Peggy Grubb Goforth, age 76, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Goforth was born in Davie County, NC on March 18, 1935 to the late Lloyd A. Grubb and Florence Smith Grubb. She received a Bachelors Degree from High Point University in 1982. She retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She was an active member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church where she served in the Stephen Ministries. She was an active community volunteer, Master Gardner and an avid reader. In addition to her parents Mrs. Goforth was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas C. Grubb and a special friend Bill Pegram. She is survived by her son, James A. Goforth, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters: Jean Griffin of Monroe, NC, Betty Russell of Concord, NC, and Jane Vick of Louisville, KY. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Glenda Smith of King, and Wanda Davis of Columbia, Ohio. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Maple Springs United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Anne Elmore officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Cooleemee Historical Association, P.O. Box 667, Old #14 Church Street, Cooleemee, NC 27014 or Stephen Ministries c/o: Maple Springs United Methodist Church, 2569 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Salem Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel is assisting the Goforth family.
