Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 27, in the East Rockingham Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Brown and Reverend Mitchell Roller officiating. Internment will be held privately.
A lifelong resident of Richmond County, Mrs. Dutton was born on May 8, 1920, to the late George and Rosa Currie Wilkes. She married Lewis Alexander Dutton on October 26, 1940, and spent most of her career working in textiles at Aleo Manufacturing, but for a time also worked a turkey farm with her husband. A lifelong member of East Rockingham Freewill Baptist Church, she was very involved in Sunday School, the Ladies Auxilary, and the Nursing Home Ministry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lewis A. Dutton, Jr., two brothers, George Junior Wilkes and Jess Currie, and two sisters, Allie White and Hazel Hyatt.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, two daughters, thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday at East Rockingham Freewill Baptist Church, and at other times at the home.
