Deceased Name: WILLIAM "LLOYD" CUNNINGHAM -- Belmond
William "Lloyd" Cunningham, 88, a lifelong resident of the Belmond and Goodell areas, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the Belmond Health Care Center with his children by his side. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 18 at the Belmond United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Reformed Church Cemetery, east of Belmond.

William "Lloyd" Cunningham was born on May 3, 1917 in Boone County near Boone. He moved with his family as a young child to a farm near Goodell and attended Pleasant Township Country School and later graduated from Belmond High School in 1936.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Erma Arlene Frohling on June 22, 1937 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Their union was blessed with three children, Marlan, Kirk and Glenda. Lloyd was very much a family man and both he and Erma worked very hard to instill the value of education in the lives of their children.

Lloyd worked as a mechanic at the Ford Garage in Belmond for 18 years. He later purchased an auto body shop in Belmond which he owned and operated for 20 years. He and Erma were both members of the Belmond United Methodist Church where Lloyd was a longtime usher. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of the Eastern Star where he served as Worthy Patron numerous times. He had also been involved in the I.O.O.F. organization. Lloyd was one of the Charter members of the Belmond Country Club and had belonged to the Belmond Area Chamber of Commerce.

Those left to cherish the memory of his life include his sons, Marlan (Karen) Cunningham of Ankeny and Kirk (Cathy) Cunningham of Prescott, AZ; a daughter, Glenda (Larry) Field of Fairbanks, AK; a brother, Harold (Marcella) Cunningham of Goodell; six grandchildren, Laura (David) Moore, David (Lisa) Cunningham, Elizabeth (Brad) Koeckeritz, Sarah Cunningham, Derek (Carla) Field, and Nathan (Kim) Field; five great-grandchildren, Aerielle Field, Matthew Moore, Christopher Moore, Shannon Cunningham, and Gabriella Cunningham; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Tomson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Erma in October 2000.

Andrews Funeral Home in Belmond is in charge of arrangements.
