Samuel Moore Barclay was the son of Col. Hugh and Hetty Fulton. He was a noted lawyer in Bedford, working for a while with Francis B. Murdoch in the firm Murdoch and Barclay (1820's). Murdoch later went on to serve as the first lawyer on the Dredd Scott trial in St. Louis, MO. He was married to Anna Eliza Sophia Morrison.
