Arthur Leonard Lucas, age 86 of Hancock, died Monday August 12, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

Born April 10, 1927 in Warfordsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Richard Lee and Margaret Elizabeth Hill Lucas and the husband of Idella Vernedia Trail Lucas who died August 21, 2008.

He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy.

He retired in 1989 as a Superintendent for Maryland State Park Service at Ft. Frederick.

He is survived by one son, Arthur Norty Lucas of Big Pool, MD; six grandsons, Marty Adams, Randy Adams, Darren Lucas, Devin Lucas, Dereck Wollaston and Shane Wollaston; two great grandsons, Joshua and Trenton Lucas. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Adams Lucas and Tammy D. Di Nenna; four brothers, Nathan Lucas, William Lucas, Sidney Lucas and Richard Lucas; two sisters, Bernice Smith and June Gearhart.

A service will be held Saturday August 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, MD, Rev. Jack Hiles, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool, MD.

The family will receive friends on Saturday 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
