Mr. Tyrell died Aug. 11, 2013, in his home.
David Christie Tyrrell Jr. was born on May 12, 1940, in Philadelphia to David Christie and Katherine Sample Tyrrell.
He married Evelyn Rachel Lancaster in New York; she preceded him in death. He married Margaret Smith Tyrrell in 1995; she survives.
Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Roanoke, Va. In 1949, they moved to Shreveport, La. Mr. Tyrrell attended Southfield School, and C. E. Byrd High School, graduating in 1958. He attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and graduated in 1962 with a business degree.
Upon graduation, he went to New York to work for B.B.D.&O advertising agency. At that time, he also served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. After relocating to Dallas 1965, Mr. Tyrell worked as a stock broker for Lehman Bros. and Dominick and Dominick. He left the sales end of the stock market and began to work in oil exploration. He moved to Saltillo in 2005.
He was an active member of the vestry at St. Philips Episcopal Church in Sulphur Springs.
Other survivors include his daughters, Katherine Tyrrell Boruff and husband, Darren, and Rachael Christie Tyrrell; stepdaughters Melna Lewis Bourland and husband, Peter, and Victoria Leigh Lewis; one sister, Sybil Tyrrell Patten and husband, Fred; one brother, William Sample Tyrrell and wife, Marie; and two grandsons, David Lancaster Boruff and Lucas Jackson Lewis.
Mr. Tyrrell was also preceded in death by his parents.
