Shirley Louise Adkins, age 80, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late M. L. and Virgie Adkins. Shirley attended her home church of the Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband George Adkins and her second husband, Fred Honeycutt.
She is survived by: Son: Myren Lynn Adkins, his wife Donna of Erwin
Daughters: Anita Hodge, her husband Bill of Hampton
Vicky Adkins of Hampton
Grandchildren: Bethany and Josh Jones of Erwin
Bradley and Emily Hodge of Hampton
Great-Grandchildren: Ryleigh and Katelyn Hodge,
Guycen and Kynzie Jones

She was a loving mother with a great love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The life of Shirley Louise Adkins will be remembered and honored in a funeral service at 7 PM, Thursday, August 15, 2013, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Roger Laws will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5 PM until service time on Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 16, 2013, at Edwards Cemetery (Spivey Community). If you plan to attend the graveside, please meet at Edwards Cemetery by 9:50 AM on Friday.
