Mr. Everett E. Rogers, 93, DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, March 29, 2006 at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Everett Elsworth Rogers was born April 13, 1912 in Cisne, Illinois, the son of F. E. and Corda (Sparr) Rogers. He worked in Bettendorf for The Iowana Dairies as an ice cream maker. Everett married Sylvia Peters, October 3, 1939in Clinton, Iowa. They moved to the Peters family farm east of Welton in 1942 and in 1950 bought an uncles farm west of Welton. They farmed there until retiring from farming in 1968. Everett then took a job as Clinton County Road Maintenance Supervisor until retiring in 1978.

Since then Everett has enjoyed a good game of golf with his many friends at Wapsi Oaks Country Club, and was a very sharp card player. Most of all he enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Everett was one of the original founding fathers and Charter Directors of First Central State Bank of DeWitt. He was an active director until 2002, retiring on his 90th birthday. Everett was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, and the DeWitt Noon Lions.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sylvia; a daughter, Barb (Chuck) Green, DeWitt; grandsons, Brian Green and fiancé, Maria Wetteland, Christopher Green and wife Julie and Jamie Green all of DeWitt; granddaughters, Amy Lippens and husband, Jamie, DeWitt, and Tia Green and fiancé, Doug McKnight, Weymouth, Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, Tayler and Derek Green, Collen and Carter Green and Abigail and Joshua Lippens; a brother, Earl Rogers, Denver, Iowa, a sister, Dorothy Jones, Waterloo, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two sisters, Elva Shelton and Faye Smith and a brother, Glen Rogers.

The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 2 until 7 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2006. Service of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Garland Gotoski and Landon Becker, DCE officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Brian Green, Christopher Green, Jamie Green, Jamie Lippens, Doug McKnight and Harlan Rogers.
