On the evening of July 20th, 2013, John A. Robinson passed away at Marquis Rehabilitation Center. God blessed him with a full life of 99 ½ years! John was born October 7, 1913 in Emelle, Alabama. John was the youngest of eleven children born to John Newton Robinson and Harriet Jones-Robinson.

Shortly after the Emelle, Alabama Race Riot of 1930, John moved to Monroe, Louisiana, with his older brother Phillip. After moving to Monroe, John and Phillip met two sisters in Monroe: Orell Keeton and Odalee Keeton. The four of them were married on October 18, 1933, for 68 years. John and Phillip moved their families to Vancouver, WA and then to Portland, Oregon where they continued to live together for the next 25 years. After buying their individual homes in 1996, the two brothers and the two sisters set-up their households together again. John spent his working years, working in the Vancouver Shipyards, and he later retired from the Maintenance Department at Roy Burnett Motors.

John accepted Christ at an early age at the Jones Baptist Church in Emelle, Alabama. In 1946, along with Orell, Odalee and Phillip, John joined Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. John remained a faithful member. John would sit on the corner of the third pew so he could "meet and greet" church members as they walked in the sanctuary. He sang in the Senior Choir, which later changed to the Chancel Choir and the Mens' Choir for over 50 years. John caught the first fish for Mt Olivet's annual Fish-O-Rama. As soon as the Fish-O-Rama was over, they began planning for the next year. John truly loved the Lord. He also loved his church and believed in the God-Given Vision of Mt. Olivet. John supported his church and Dr. Martin's leadership..

John is survived by his children: Rometta Tyler (Robert – deceased) Manfred Robinson (Genevieve), Lemuel Robinson (Shirley), Johnetta Redditt, Garnett Croone (James); niece, Dian Jackson , nephew Carl Harris (Annie), 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
